DESCRIPTION  AND USE

 

ALKAGUARD 20 is used for imparting alkalinity to a boiler water.

TREATMENT AND DOSAGE REQUIREMENTS

 

ALKAGUARD 20 is normally applied so as to maintain the boiler water alkalinity within limits which will be established by Water Guard to suit the operating conditions.  

One litre of ALKAGUARD 20 is equivalent to approximately 600 gram of Conjunctional Treatment ‘C’.

ALKAGUARD 20 may be injected using a dosage pump, dosage pot or direct to hotwell as appropriate to the particular plant.    

SAFETY

 

ALKAGUARD 20 is alkaline. Gloves and goggles should be worn. Splashes in the eye or on skin should be immediately irrigated using copious quantities of clean cold water. 

Heat is evolved during dilution with water which should be done with care. Add ALKAGUARD 20 slowly to water, not water to ALKAGUARD.

POTENTIAL HAZARDS:
This product is strongly caustic and causes severe burns.
Eye contact is particulary harmful. 
 
SPILL PROCEDURE:
Flush to drain with large quantities of water, observe local disposal regulations.
Avoid splashing and skin/eye contact.
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and face visor.
HANDLING AND STORAGE:

Avoid contact with skin and eyes. 

Keep away from sources of ignition - No Smoking.
Avoid extremes of temperature.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes. 
Protect from extremes of temperature, do not  allow to freez.
Replace caps securely after use.
Recommended maximum storage limit is 2 years.
 
 
 FIRST AID:
 
EYES: Irrigate with clean water, ensure that all areas of eye are thoroughly flushed. Seek immediate medical attention.

 

SKIN: Drench affective area with clean water, remove any contaminated clothing. If irritation persists or large areas of skin are affected seek  medical attention.

 

INGESTION: Wash out mouth thoroughly and drink plenty of water followed by vineger or 1% acetic acid solution.
Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical advice.

 ALKAGUARD 20 is based on sodium hydrocide.

 Available in 25 litre and 200 litre drums.
